No child should face court alone
Kids should be treated like kids, not lawyers. In March 2025, the Trump administration cut off bipartisan, Congressionally mandated funding that ensures that the kids who arrive in our country by themselves have the legal support they need. That's why 11 legal service organizations dedicated to this highly specialized work are taking the U.S. government to court.
The federal lawsuit, CLSEPA v. HHS, seeks to restore the rights that these children are entitled to under U.S. law, despite the efforts of the administration to strip them away—dramatically increasing the likelihood that they would be sent back to the very the danger they had fled.
Plaintiffs are:
Amica Center for Immigrant Rights (Washington, D.C.)
Community Legal Services in East Palo Alto (East Palo Alto, CA)
Estrella del Paso | (El Paso, TX)
Florence Immigrant & Refugee Rights Project (Tuscon and Phoenix, AZ)
Galveston-Houston Immigrant Representation Project (Galveston and Houston, TX)
Immigrant Defenders Law Center (Los Angeles, CA)
National Immigrant Justice Center (Chicago, IL)
Northwest Immigrant Rights Project (Seattle, Granger, Wenatchee, and Tacoma, WA)
Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network (Westminster, CO)
Social Justice Collaborative (Berkeley, CA)
and Vermont Asylum Assistance Project (Burlington, VT)
Plaintiffs are represented by:
Amica Center for Immigrant Rights, Immigrant Defenders Law Center, and Justice Action Center.

While there are 11 legal service organization plaintiffs in CLSEPA v. HHS, there are a total of 99 legal service providers in 160+ offices nationwide who provide legal support to unaccompanied children—all of whom would be severely impacted by the administration's cuts to Congressionally mandated funding.
